The Indian summer is in its full glory and while North India scorches under the sun, it’s time to bring out that pair of white-on-white to cool things down. The soothing forever-trendy colorway looks graceful yet fashionable, can be worn with anything and can elevate your style from 0 to 100 in a jiffy. Here are 10 of our picks to beat the summer and look effortlessly cool.
Grasshoppers Janey Leather Lace-Up Sneaker
How about we start with a banger? When it comes to shoes, think of a ballpark figure you’d end up spending. Well, this shoe defies that ballpark. A budget sneaker that’s exceptionally popular among women, has a no-frills silhouette and is so comfortable that you could wear it all day long for under $50? Yes, this shoe with a synthetic leather upper construction, removable padded insole and a gum sole comes for the said price. This is synthetic leather so if you don’t like the feel of a non-genuine leather shoe, you’d opt for thousands of other brands out there. But if you don’t wanna spend a whole lot on sneakers and want something durable and good looking to move around in, these are perfect.
Converse Women’s EV Pro II
You won’t see this shoe making it to a lot of lists of white sneakers. Perhaps because a lot of people never paid attention to Converse’s leather range of shoes. We’ve always been suckers for Converse’s leather offerings which no doubt cost a bit more but are easier to maintain compared to their canvas range. On the other hand, you can really beat up a pair of Canvas shoes and then throw them inside a washer to literally “rinse and repeat.” This lace-up style silhouette has a slight chunk to it, thanks to its mid-sole and a beefier upper construction. White flat laces and eyelets keep things simple and cool. Other variants are available as well but we absolutely love the all-white.
Kenneth Cole New York “Kam” Trainer
Please don’t buy this shoe because you spotted Kendall Jenner flaunting them with a crop-top and ripped jeans. Kenneth Cole’s products have had better descriptions, right? Jokes aside, buy this pair for what it is – a plain white no-nonsense kickass shoe! The shoe has the low profile of a Vans Era but in a completely different package. Synthetic lining and a plain white leather upper make this a no bells and whistles shoe. The sole has a nice tread pattern to it for grip and the insole adorning the Kenneth Cole New York brand is removable. Flat crisp white laces and the absence of metal eyelets made this one of our instant favorites.
Reebok Freestyle Hi’s
When it comes to white shoes, people often quote high-fashion brands that pay negligible amount of attention to arch support and cushioning. This is the reason why we refrain from listing such shoes in our write-ups because then, you end up missing out on the $60-$70 gems like this one. Leather upper, rubber sole, good arch support, lace-up vamp, padded collar, hook-and-loop straps up top, terrycloth lining, perforated toebox as well as lateral and medial side and a trusted name on top of all that! Meet the Reebok Freestyle Hi tops in white that are love at first sight. Available in several other colorways, the comfort and sheer aesthetics of the shoe are astounding and make some of these designer shoes look weak.
Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Leather
This is where you pay homage. A classic and the most iconic oxford shoe in the world with a textured leather upper, the signature All Star heel patch, vulcanized rubber soul, brushed metal eyelets, reinforced rubber toe cap, padded footbed and an unmatched legacy all in one shoe. There is no “if” or “why” here. Just shut up and buy one.
Nike Cortez All White
A shoe that started its journey in the 1972 Olympics, the Nike Cortez Classic Leather Casual Shoe still retains its claim as a must-have sneaker. Even though it’s no longer a running shoe, you can style this sneaker with any casual wardrobe with a dab of retro oomph to it.
Leather upper, grooved up rubber outsole with herringbone traction pattern, these shoes have remained in style for that perfect throwback retro feel. A word of caution – the shoe runs a half or full size small for some, so be sure of your size when picking it up.
Puma Roma Fashion Sneaker
Puma has a habit of giving us classics unconditionally and the Roma is no different. This classic casual sneaker features a leather upper with a T-toe and formstrip overlays. There’s plenty of arch support with a cushioned midsole and the outsole has a sawtooth traction. The absence of brushed eyelets fits the silhouette perfectly along with the matching flat white laces.
COS Wrap-over Leather Slip-On
In a world full of lace-ups, slip-ons can often get sidelined but not when you’re discussing women’s shoes. This wrap-over shoe from COS is quite a looker with its clean minimal style and a slip-on design. Made from panels of smooth leather with an elastic wrap-over detail and completed with a comfortable thick midsole along with a rubber outsole, these look exceptionally clean and the wrap-over design reminds us of the Adidas Y3 Qasa High designed by Yohji Yamamoto.
Adidas Samoa Casual Shoes
Another throwback shoe from the 1980’s, it’s tough for you to resist this full-grain leather upper with a retro suede overlay on the toe box. Casual, cool, relaxed, crisp, fresh, dope – pick your word! The iconic Adidas 3-Stripes branding on the sides and a Trefoil pattern outsole round out these must-have sneakers.
Nike Roshe One
The Roshe series put Nike on another level with an ultra-comfortable and lightweight design. The shoe has a cult following and has become an instant classic. Available in every color and print imaginable, the sneaker has found its place in everyone’s wardrobe. The shoe has a textile upper, phylon foam cushioning, Waffle treads on an EVA sole and an overall running shoe’s retro look.
